Slam

I was watching some def jam on youtube and I felt inspired....so I wrote a poem on some of the feelings I encountered while doing research for my thesis on sex trafficking...amazing how creativity just flows from the most unexpected places. After months of writing with an academic view, I couldn't contain myself anymore. I can't write objectively about such an henious crime against women and children.
Billions of people trafficked world wide. 20,000 women and children trafficked into the United States EACH YEAR.

How can you help?
Support your local, or national shelters and NGOs

Also, just talk about it. Too many people don't even know what is going on. Ignoring the problem does not make it go away.

I Slam

I slam for those girls who have no words
Who have no family
Who have no friends
Who have no hope
Who have no truth- to see who we can be

They are blinded by the politicians that play the game
In hopes that they will please their right wing constituents
Who are more concerned with their pocket books
Than human lives
For human lives do not matter- unless they are American lives

But it's American Men who lay on top of them
It's the men with popped collars
That pay with American dollars
Who lust at night and condemn at day

I slam for human lives stolen by greed
Making money by feeding the need
For Flesh
For Youth
For Innocence

I slam for that little girl behind that short skirt
And fishnet stockings
Who stares into his eyes,

As he chuckles to his friends, "watch while I bang her"
I slam his ass down with my words and my anger!

No longer will he occupy her small, little body
And hide behind the laws of this country

I slam so that they can see
Who we can be

And we can be-
Someone who leads them to a bed
Not for sex, but for sleep
Someone who clothes them
Not for streets, but for school

Someone who reads for them,
Breaths for them,
Leads for them
Stands up and SCREAMS for them!

I slam
For them
