Kierkegaard said that art is essential to seeing the earth's beauty. Art can take an ordinary pair of boots, something that we would never take a second look at, and turn it into something significant-as it should be. When we look at those boots in a painting we see the hardships they have been through and we think of the life of the man who wears those boots- it's the reflection that comes with the appreciation of art that is so important. When we see art, we take the time to ponder its significance- too bad Kierkegaard was a Nazi, he would have otherwise made a half decent philosopher.

A Pair of Boots. Vincent Van Gogh.
Kierkegaard said that art is essential to seeing the earth's beauty. Art can take an ordinary pair of boots, something that we would never take a second look at, and turn it into something significant-as it should be. When we look at those boots in a painting we see the hardships they have been through and we think of the life of the man who wears those boots- it's the reflection that comes with the appreciation of art that is so important. nice post.. the piece is too classical for my tastes nothing I'd hang on my wall in my studio but its good nonetheless.. art of the simplest things we take for granted is the best... 2 people can look at something and their interpretations can be worlds apart.. i love those boots--fashion to me is one of the purest and realest forms of art and this is proof right here!! the van gogh painting reminds me of my grandfather.. he always wore the same pair of jeans and cowboy hat day in day out while he worked on his crops, etc out in the huge ass yard.. I remember doing laundry over there once and checking out his jeans and these things should've been hung up in a Levi's exhibit.. all the creases.. and fading.. and wear .. it was awesome..
